Good old Premiere, you love it when it works, YOU ABSOLUTELY DESPISE IT WHEN IT DOESN'T. Yeah... I am sorry blog right now was one of those times where it most definately was NOT working. Warning: I might get a little animated in this blog post I have thoughts.
Let me set the scene, i was finishing up editing, happy to finally be done with such a big project and excited to finally turn the page and then I export. When I look at the preview of the export, ALL OF MY CLIPS ARE COMPLETELY OVEREXPOSED WHEN IN THE TIMELINE THEY LOOKED FINE. But, no worries, it should just be a quick fix... right. I am not too bad with technology... right. Oh I was no naive.
Well I start searching around on the Adobe forums and Tada I immediately find a post. After figuring out what the solution is saying I switch around some settings. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing at this point, but I thought it might have something to do with HDR settings, which I found kind of odd since I thought my camera didn't do HDR (Spoiler alert, Juan was right.) But, I ignore that and just follow the directions, change my export settings to export in HDR, and Tada the preview looks perfectly fine now.
So I hit export thinking all is well... (all was not well). After exporting I look for my File, and it appears blank... Odd I think but maybe its just my computer acting up?
So I reset my computer, still nothing, and when I click it, nothing, it says a time, but it doesnt play and appears completely blank.
So I export this file, just to see if by some black magic it works. And to the shock of no one same error as when I tried to export before.
So I turn to old faithful youtube, and see what happens if I upload the file onto youtube, cause it could be my computer being silly who knows. And it seems to upload fine but the quality is horrible.
After many more trials and tribulations and a search back into the forums, I learned that it had something to do with Premiere pro's HDR workflow. For some reason, Premiere had set my timeline to use this workflow even though my footage wasn't HDR. After troubleshooting and getting help from this guy's thorough explanation, I changed my timeline settings and everything finally WORKED. It exported just fine, the quality worked well, and all was well.
