Hey Blog!
My sister who used to be a fellow AICE Media kid, has a really great DSLR camera, I asked to borrow it from her and she let me. Its a Canon EOS Rebel SL2, a really nice camera! But, I kind of have no idea how to use it, so before I start filming, in this blog I'm gonna be learning all about how to actually use it.
So to learn the basics I started watching this video, a guide on the basic functions of the camera. In the video, he goes over a few very useful tips and essential knowledge to be able to use the camera, such as how to turn it on, put it in focus, start recording, check the menu, and change settings. These were all very useful to know, and the camera is much less frightening to use than before, when clicking any button made me scared I was gonna break it. However, there is still much more I need to learn and when he went into the settings it gave me an idea for what that was.
ISO and Aperture, are two words I roughly remember from Freshman year TV production class, but that have long left my active memory, but as they were mentioned in this video I realized I definately need a refresher. First, I played around with it on my camera to remember roughly how it works, this reminded me that ISO, essentially adjusts the brightness of the shot. This could be very useful in my filming If I have to film something that is purposefully under or overexposed.
