Setting up locations for my Setting

After creating my script I've been able to see exactly which locations I need to film with. Here I'll be examining the settings that I have for my script, and seeing which locations could work best for my settings.

Quick Update

I added a new Location to my Script! After making my script, and seeing that there could be extra time for another scene, I added a quick sequence at the beginning which shows an Airport, which establishes that the driver is picking up the child from another country, showing instead of telling some of the exposition.

The Locations

The Locations would be in chronological order, the Airport, Board/Conference Room/Convention Stage, School(outside), and Classroom.

Airport

Nearby me, in the Miami Metro area, there is two airports, that have International flights (which is important to communicate a sense of realism) that, which I could use for my production.

The First is Fort Lauderdale International Airport. The pros behind this location is that it's the closest, which would not just be easiest for me to film, but considering the time of my actors, it would most likely be the most convenient for all of us. The other option is Miami International Aiport (MIA), The good thing with this aiport is that it's larger, and generally has a more imposing apperance; however its size could also create problems with filming, since its business, would make it hard to find a place to film. Overall, considering its more manageable size, I've decided to film at FFL, for the airport location.

Board/Conference Room

For this section I have a few different options each with its own set of pros and cons, and its own distinct vibe and aesthetic. If I want to go for a dark "promotional video" or dark stage aesthetic (alas Steve Jobs), My home would likely be the best place to film, as I could set up a full set. By setting up a dark background, and high key lighting, I could achieve that aesthetic of a CEO presenting on a dimly lit stage. Additionally, I could go for a more realistic setting, perhaps filming in my school auditorium, which would likely be the best option, but seems like a bureaucratic nightmare to get permission to actually film in. Therefore, for this scene, for now, I am gonna try to create a set in my home, with use of a dark background, and use clever lighting to conceal the smallness of the set. I could likely achieve the backdrop through things I already own (#reducereuserecycle), but if I find what I have to be unsatisfactory, I could purchase something along the lines of this Black background on amazon. The third, perhaps backup option is green screening, which could either go great if I were able to dedicate the correct amount of pre-production time, or absolutely horrendously if I wasn't, which is why it won't be my first option.

School (Outside)

For both convenience and certain mise-en scene elements, I'm considering filming all of the outside school sections at my own school, Cypress Bay High School. One of the shots that I want to include is showing a gated school, which luckily (or maybe slightly concerningly?) my school has a great example of a tall imposing white gate, all around it.

 Classroom

There is a small scene at the end where I need to record a clock and bell, and also a shot of my protagonist inside the school. This is gonna depend on who I cast as my main actor (future blog), since they would need to be able during the school day to film. If they are available during my 8th period, it would be preferable to film in my AICE Media class, since we are often working individually.
